Both Lemon and Lime are varieties of basil are freshly citrus scented and offers an unusual, dramatic, tasty basil. This rare and tasty basil will work wonders in vinegar, with fish, salad dressings, sauces, and oils.
In the Garden
Lime basil does best in a flower or vegetable garden. It is harder to grow in a container because it is tender and very susceptible to over-watering. It needs full or half day sun and well drained soil. It is constantly flowering so make sure to keep the flowers trimmed off to promote new growth.
Plant Uses
Lime basil has a wonderful sweet lime scent and flavor. Use it on chicken, seafood, and salads. You can mix vinegar, oil, and the lime basil leaves to make a nice lime basil viniagrette dressing. It also is great with squash and asparagus.
