Plant Specifications
Lavandula angustifolia. Perennial. Sun. Height: 12”
In the Garden
Lady Lavender needs a well drained soil, full sun, and be careful not to overwater because wet conditions promote disease growth. It is a compact lavender that only grows to a height of 12″ to 18″. Prune your lavender a few weeks after its’ first blooms appear to promote additional growth and to maintain its’ shrub-like appearance. It makes a great border plant in your flower or rock garden and will bloom for the majority of the Summer and Fall.
Plant Uses
Lady Lavender is not used as a culinary herb. It is used for its oil, flowers, and strong lavender scent that is very relaxing and soothing. Use the fresh cut stems and purple flowers in fresh flower bouquets and in lavender wands which are braided bouquets that are placed in the home to add the wonderful lavender scent. Dry the flowers and use them in potpourri.
