Lavender Thyme

Plant Specifications

Thymus vulgaris thracicus. Hardy Perennial. Sun. Height: 6” Width: 18”
An unusual thyme, it has dense, needle-like leaves with a strong lavender scent. A mounding ground cover that is proliferates quickly. Beautiful lavender purple flowers that bloom in early May.

In the Garden

Again, prefers Spring and Fall in South Texas and tends to die down in high heat. Cascading down the sides of pots, Lavender thyme prefers well-drained, sandy/rocky soil. Like most thymes, this one prefers to stay slightly moist, but not soaked! Thymes do not like their ‘feet wet!’

Plant Uses

For ornamental use, the thick ground provides a rich green in the Garden and its lovely cascading quality is perfect for hanging baskets.
