Dwarf Curry

Plant Specifications

Helichrysum microphyllum. Perennial. Full Sun. Height: 12”
A small, compact evergreen shrub, with soft, silvery needle-like leaves with a strong scent of curry. Its tiny blooms of soft mustard-yellow flowerheads in Summer are attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies.

In the Garden

Dwarf Curry grows best in well drained rocky or sandy soil, with a half-day of sun. It grows well in either a container or in your garden. It will produce yellow flowers in the summer and go dormant in the winter. Be careful not to over-water this plant because its roots will begin to rot.

Plant Uses

Dwarf Curry is edible and has a slight curry taste but a strong curry aroma. It is barely detectable in the dish so be generous when using it. You should only use it in cold dishes because it tends to turn bitter when added to hot foods. Try it in chicken salad, cheeses, and cold soups. If you love the way curry smells then this is the plant for you, since it brings that curry smell to your garden or to your home.
